Penetrar is used to prime and enhance the newly poured concrete roof slab. The multi-purpose co-polymer also provide enhanced adhesion for the waterproofing system.
After the roof ridges have been repaired with fibre cement it is primed and enhanced with Penetrar before being reinforced with geomembrane and waterproofing.
Penetrar is a deep priming acrylic co-polymer based coating which is a primer/sealer in one. It is used to seal & prime interior & exterior masonry, gypsum & plaster surfaces, providing excellent adhesion for waterproofing & painting systems. It is quick-drying with no residual odour.
When constructing a new building or doing maintenance on an existing structure it is advisable to prime all porous and nonporous masonry, gypsum & plaster surfaces prior to waterproofing or painting.
A good waterproofing primer will prime the surface and also enhance the adhesion for the membrane, waterproofing & painting systems. A good waterproofing primer like Penetrar will also promote long-lasting durable waterproofing & painting systems.
Priming of cementitious substrates is required for all porous and nonporous masonry, gypsum & plaster surfaces. When using Penetrar as the primer it will give you a coverage of 4 m² per litre. Wait approx. 1-2 hours at ± 25°C or until touch dry before starting with the waterproofing or paint system application.
It is possible to waterproof over most waterproofing systems depending on the state and delamination of the existing waterproofing. When waterproofing over a torch-on, bitumen-based system an adhesion layer is required before you can waterproof over the old waterproofing. DapEnd can be used.
DampEnd forms part of EcoSeal's waterproofing system and when used in combination with HydroSeal HF & Repello it forms a seamless maintenance waterproofing coating for Torch-On systems that will seal delaminated joints, overlaps, outlets and cracked torch-on systems It can also be used as an adhesion layer on bitumen-based systems.
After waterproofing has been done on a balcony or inside a shower it is advisable to prime the waterproofing for tiling to enhance the adhesion of the tile glue. So yes it is important to prime waterproofing before tiling.
