It is essential to waterproof a new concrete roof slab to ensure the integrity of the roof structure and to protect the contents below. Applying the SealPro waterproofing system will guarantee a seamless waterproofing system that is UV resistant and durable.
Follow the steps below will ensure a high-performance waterproofing system with long term protection.
Step1 – Concrete Roof Slab
Clean the surface of the roof slab and make sure it is smooth & free from debris and loose or flaking particles.
Step 2 - Priming
Apply Penetrar to the concrete roof slab. Penetrar will penetrate the porous concrete, bind any loose particles or dustiness. Penetrar will strengthen the concrete surface, seal it, and enhance the adhesion for the waterproofing system to follow. It will dry quickly in hot weather but allow 30 min to an hour before starting with the waterproof coating.
Step 3 – Membrane
On new concrete slabs, it is recommended to use StretchSeal membrane covering the complete slab to help strengthen it and to absorb movement and hairline cracks that may appear. The membrane is embedded using Repello. Repello is a polymer-based product used to seal & protect concrete. Repello gets absorbed into the sub-straight where it cures in the pores of the surface, sealing it and forms a protective film that has excellent adhesion qualities. Allow 1 to 2 hours to dry.
Step 4 – Waterproofing
Apply 3 layers of HydroSeal HF over the entire concrete roof slab. Apply using a block brush. Alternate the direction of each coating. Allow time between each application. Each layer must be touch dry before applying the next coat. HydroSeal HF is a co-polymer, high-performance universal waterproofing membrane specifically developed for long term protection of all types of roof surfaces, concrete roof slabs, parapet walls, tiled roofs, valleys, ridges, vents and flashings.
Step 5 – Curing
It is recommended that the waterproofing system must have at least 4 hours to cure before being exposed to light rain. Allow at least 48 hours before flood testing or heavy rain. The product will fully cure and reach optimum strength within 7 days.
The SealPro concrete roof slab waterproofing system will render a seamless, acrylic waterproofing coating that is durable long-lasting, low maintenance, UV Stable & weather resistant.

The best waterproofing for a concrete roof slab is a waterproof system that will penetrate the top layer of the slab, bind it and seal it with a seamless waterproofing system that is long-lasting, UV resistant, weather-resistant & durable. HydroSeal HF is one of the products used in concrete roof waterproofing.
HydroSeal HF is a synthetic nano-polymer, high-performance universal waterproofing system specifically developed for long term protection of all types of roof surfaces, concrete roof slabs, parapet walls, tiled roofs, valleys, ridges, vents, flashings etc. Due to its low hazard’s characteristics, excellent UV stability and ease of application, acrylic co-polymer liquid applied waterproofing emulsions are becoming more popular, particularly in warm and moderate climate regions.
The best way to waterproof a flat roof or terrace is to make use of a waterproofing system that includes a membrane in one of the layers. The membrane in a waterproofing system helps to absorb movement and strengthen the overall system. The success in waterproofing a terrace successfully is to have a seamless watertight coating when finished.
The waterproofing system from SealPro makes use of the following components to attain a seamless seal.
New and existing concrete roofs are not waterproof on their own due to the composition and porous nature of the concrete mixture. Concrete roofs are also exposed to the elements and take a lot of punishment from the environment.
The design and finishing of a roof slab is also very important to help channel water and prevent leaks but at the end of the day, the best solution will be to waterproof the roof slab with a proven waterproofing system.
So, Yes a new concrete roof needs to be waterproofed. Applying a positive waterproofing system will eliminate damp and leaking water. Installing the waterproofing system from SealPro will give you a watertight, seamless waterproof coating.
