A large corrugated metal roof in Moreleta Park had reached the end of its old coating’s life. The previous roof paint was flaking and peeling in wide patches, exposing bare steel to the Highveld sun and rain. Eco Seal Coating Specialists was appointed for professional roof painting — to strip the failing coating, arrest the rust, and give the entire 559 m² roof a fresh, fully protective paint system built to last.

The problem: a failing coating and creeping rust

Years of sun, hail and seasonal rain had broken down the original roof paint. Across the sheeting, the old orange coating had blistered and lifted, and in the worst areas it had flaked away completely to reveal dull, oxidising metal. Once bare steel is exposed like this, rust spreads fast, working its way under the surrounding paint and along the overlaps and screw lines where water tends to sit. Left untreated, this kind of corrosion eats into the sheeting itself and eventually leads to leaks.

The Eco Seal solution: a full metal-roof coating system

As an approved SealPro applicator, Eco Seal worked through a proven sequence for metal roofs:

1. Deep clean. The full roof area was high-pressure washed to strip loose paint, dirt and chalk, then degreased so the new system could bond to a sound surface.
2. Rust treatment. Every rusted section was treated with a rust converter to neutralise corrosion and stabilise the bare metal before coating.
3. Priming. The prepared sheeting was primed with a Purple Prime metal primer to lock down the surface and give the topcoats maximum adhesion.
4. Sealing the weak points. Overlaps, joints and screw lines were reinforced with StretchSeal and the fasteners sealed so water can no longer track underneath.
5. Two protective topcoats. Finally, two full coats of high-quality roof paint were applied across the entire roof, giving an even, hard-wearing, weatherproof finish.

The result: a protected roof that looks brand new

The transformation is dramatic. The tired, rust-streaked orange sheeting is gone, replaced by a clean, uniform charcoal-grey roof that looks factory-fresh. More importantly, the metal underneath is now sealed against the weather, the rust has been stopped, and the vulnerable joints and screw lines are watertight.
