Roof Ridge Waterproofing in Pebble Rock Golf Estate, Pretoria

Location: Pebble Rock Golf Estate, Pretoria
Service: Roof ridge waterproofing and tile roof maintenance

When roof ridges start letting water in, the leak rarely shows up where you would expect it. On this tile roof in Pebble Rock Golf Estate, the ridge caps had cracked, the bedding cement had crumbled, and a few ridge tiles had lifted away entirely, leaving the roof open to the weather. The owner called Eco Seal for professional tile roof waterproofing — to seal the ridges properly and restore the roofline before the next rains arrived.

The problem: cracked, missing and failing ridge cement

Ridge tiles sit on a bed of mortar that hardens, shrinks and eventually cracks over the years. Once that bedding fails, wind and rain work their way under the caps. On this home the damage was clear: loose and hollow cement along the ridge lines, hairline cracks running the length of the caps, and one section where a ridge tile had come away completely, exposing the cavity underneath. A small roof-slab section over one part of the house also needed attention, so it was included in the same visit.

The Eco Seal solution: a full SealPro ridge system

As an approved SealPro applicator, Eco Seal repaired and waterproofed all 58 ridges using the flexible SealPro ridge system, which is built to move with the roof instead of cracking again:

  1. Rake out and refill. We raked out all the loose, hollow bedding cement and refilled the ridge line with a fibre-reinforced cement, re-seating any broken or lifted tiles.
  2. Prep and prime. Each ridge was cleaned and primed with Penetrar to give the waterproofing a sound, well-bonded surface to grip.
  3. Waterproof with StretchSeal. We applied the reinforced StretchSeal membrane over every ridge, bridging the joints with a flexible, seamless waterproof layer that absorbs the roof’s natural expansion and contraction.
  4. HydroSeal top coat. The system was sealed with HydroSeal HF for long-term UV and weather protection.
  5. Colour code to match. Finally the ridges were colour coded so the finished caps blend cleanly with the existing terracotta tiles.
  6. Roof-slab section. The separate slab area was primed and waterproofed with the SealPro ArmTec system to match.

The result: a sealed, uniform, weather-ready roofline

Every ridge on the roof is now sealed, reinforced and colour matched, with no open joints or crumbling cement left behind. From the ground and from above the ridge lines read as one clean, continuous finish, and the roof is protected against the coming rainy season — the same tile roof waterproofing system and roof repairs we deliver across Pretoria.
