Parapet Wall Maintenance & Waterproofing in Faerie Glen, Pretoria

Location: Faerie Glen, Pretoria
Service: Parapet wall maintenance, wall waterproofing and exterior wall painting

A parapet wall takes more punishment than almost any other part of a home. It sits fully exposed to sun, rain and the constant expansion and contraction that comes with Pretoria’s hot days and cold nights. When the coating on top starts to fail, water no longer runs off cleanly — it soaks into the wall and finds its way through to the roof line below. This Faerie Glen home was showing exactly those warning signs, so the owner called in Eco Seal for professional wall waterproofing — to strip the old system back and put down a proper build-up.

The problem: an old coating breaking down

The existing waterproofing on the parapet had reached the end of its life. The old blue coating had lost its flexibility and was cracking and lifting, leaving flakes scattered across the paving below and bare patches open to the weather. A staircase-section exterior wall nearby was also tired and in need of maintenance and a fresh coat of paint. Left as it was, the failing membrane would have kept letting moisture track down into the structure.

The Eco Seal solution: a full SealPro build-up

As an approved SealPro applicator, Eco Seal used a properly matched system rather than a quick patch over the failing coating:

  1. Strip and prepare. All loose and flaking material was removed and the parapet and surrounding wall were cleaned back to a sound, stable surface ready to bond to.
  2. Prime and seal. The prepared surface was treated with Penetrar and UltraBond WP to lock down the substrate and give the new system a solid grip.
  3. Reinforce the joints. StretchSeal was worked into the vulnerable corners, junctions and the roof-to-parapet detail, where movement and water collection cause most failures.
  4. Apply the membrane. A HydroSeal HF flexible waterproofing membrane was rolled out across the parapet and the metal roof junction to form a continuous, seamless waterproof layer.
  5. Maintain and paint the exterior wall. The staircase-section exterior wall was repaired, primed and finished with two coats of premium wall paint in the owner’s chosen colour.

The result: sealed, protected and clean

The parapet now carries a fresh, uniform waterproofing membrane with no exposed or flaking patches, and the roof junction is fully tied in and protected. The exterior wall section has been brought back to a clean, freshly painted finish. The home is properly sealed against the next rainy season, and the flexible SealPro system is built to move with the wall — the same standard we bring to homes across Faerie Glen and our wider roof repairs and waterproofing.
