When rising damp and moisture start creeping into the base of a home’s exterior walls, the problem rarely stays cosmetic for long. The problem

Along the exterior wall the ground level sat high against the brickwork, allowing ground moisture to migrate up and through the wall. Left untreated, this kind of damp leads to paint failure, salt staining, crumbling plaster and a persistent musty smell inside. The adjoining storage section had an unsealed, porous floor and wall junctions that let moisture in from below and from the surrounding soil. Both areas needed a durable, monolithic waterproofing system rather than a quick surface patch.

The Eco Seal solution

As an approved SealPro applicator, Eco Seal followed a proven wall-waterproofing sequence:

1. Excavation along the exterior wall to expose the base of the brickwork and create a clean working trench down to the affected level.
2. Surface preparation — brushing back loose material and priming the sound substrate so the coating system could bond properly.
3. Penetrar penetrating treatment worked into the masonry to seal the pores and block moisture movement through the brick.
4. StretchSeal flexible membrane applied over the wall base, reinforced with an embedded fibre mesh to bridge any hairline movement and give the coating strength.
5. HydroSeal HF as the final high-flex waterproofing layer, building a continuous, seamless barrier along the full run of the wall.
6. Storage section floor and wall junctions sealed with the same mesh-reinforced system, coved up the walls to create a watertight tray with no weak joints.

The result

The exterior wall now carries a continuous, mesh-reinforced waterproof barrier from the excavated base upward, ready for backfilling, with moisture cut off before it can reach the internal finishes. The storage section is fully sealed floor-to-wall with a tough grey coating that keeps ground moisture out for good.
