A home in the Heron Hill suburb of Pretoria had reached the point every property owner recognises: the exterior walls looked tired, the paint was patchy and discoloured, and hairline cracks were starting to open up across the plaster. The problem

Years of Highveld sun, rain and thermal movement had taken their toll. The house walls were blotchy, with the old coating flaking away and bare plaster showing through in large patches. Fine cracks had appeared across several sections, and the seals around windows and doors had dried out and split. The boundary wall, exposed on all sides, showed the same fading and had unsealed coping and flat sections where water could soak in from the top. Left untreated, that moisture would keep working its way behind the paint and into the plaster.

The Eco Seal solution

As an approved SealPro applicator, Eco Seal followed a full remedial system rather than simply painting over the problem:

1. Clean and prepare. The house and boundary walls were washed down with a high-pressure washer to strip loose paint, dust and surface grime back to a sound base.
2. Repair cracks and damage. Cracked and damaged sections were filled with fibre cement, matched to the existing wall texture, and StretchSeal was worked into moving cracks to keep them sealed.
3. Renew seals. Perished sealant around windows and doors was cut out and renewed to close off water entry points.
4. Waterproof the boundary wall. The coping and flat sections were treated with a Penetrar and UltraBond primer, then finished with HydroSeal HF to shed water off the top of the wall.
5. Prime and paint. Repaired areas were spot-primed, walls were coated with a Rain Shield membrane, then finished with two full coats of premium exterior wall paint for an even, weather-resistant surface.

The result

The transformation speaks for itself. The patchy, cracked walls are now a clean, uniform grey with crisp, straight lines and a smooth even sheen. The boundary wall matches the house perfectly, its coping properly sealed against the weather.
