Roof Ridge Waterproofing in Waterkloof Ridge, Pretoria

Location: Waterkloof Ridge, Pretoria
Service: Roof Ridge Waterproofing

A double-storey tile roof in Waterkloof Ridge had reached the point where its ridge caps could no longer be ignored. Years of sun, movement, and weather had opened up the pointing along dozens of ridges, and the homeowner brought in Eco Seal for professional tile roof waterproofing — to assess the full roof before the next rainy season could turn small cracks into ceiling stains.

The problem with the roof

From ground level the roof looked tired but manageable. Up close, the picture was different. Across both the newer and older sections of the roof, the cement pointing along the ridge tiles had cracked, crumbled, or gone missing altogether in long stretches. Loose fill material sat in the gaps rather than bonding to the tiles beneath it, leaving open joints running the full length of almost every ridge line. A handful of tiles had also cracked or shifted where the ridges had failed to hold them in place. Left alone, every one of those open joints is a direct path for water into the roof timbers and ceiling below.

The Eco Seal solution for lasting protection

Eco Seal is an approved SealPro applicator, and the scope here was built around SealPro’s ridge waterproofing system, applied across close to seventy ridge caps on both the old and new sections of the roof:

  1. Rake out and refill – all loose, crumbling cement was raked out of the ridge joints and replaced with fresh fibre-reinforced cement, giving every ridge a sound, solid base.
  2. Prep and prime – once the fill had cured, the ridge substrate was cleaned and primed to give the waterproofing system a surface it could properly bond to.
  3. Waterproof with the StretchSeal system – a flexible, reinforced StretchSeal membrane was applied over every ridge, sealing the joints and covering the full ridge profile so future movement in the tiles doesn’t reopen the seams.
  4. Colour coding – the ridges were finished in a colour-matched topcoat so the repair blends into the existing roof rather than standing out as a patch job.

The result: a roof ready for the rain

Every ridge on the property now has a continuous, flexible waterproof seal instead of aging, cracked cement pointing. The cracked and loose tiles disturbed during the repair were reset and sealed back into place, and the finished ridges are colour matched so the roof reads as a single, well-maintained surface — the same tile roof waterproofing system and roof repairs we deliver across Pretoria.
