The problem: rust, faded coating and leaking screw lines

Years of Highveld sun and rain had taken their toll on this profiled metal roof. The original red paint had chalked and flaked away, exposing the bare steel underneath to surface rust. The worst damage showed up along the seams and fasteners, where corrosion had crept in around loose and rusted screws. Left untreated, those screw lines and joints are exactly where water finds its way through, threatening the structure and stock below. The whole roof needed to be stabilised, sealed and recoated, not simply painted over.

As an approved SealPro applicator, Eco Seal used the SealPro metal roof specification to restore the sheeting properly from the fasteners up:

1. Clean and degrease the entire roof to strip away chalked paint, dirt and loose debris, giving a sound surface to work on.
2. Treat all corrosion with a rust inhibitor so the existing rust is neutralised and stopped from spreading beneath the new coating.
3. Prime with Purple Prime, the SealPro etch primer that grips tightly to metal sheeting and locks in the treated surface.
4. Seal the screw lines and joints with Flex and StretchSeal, and cap every corroded fastener with ScrewSeal patches so each weak point is fully waterproofed.
5. Apply HydroSeal HF and a premium topcoat, finishing with two full coats of high-quality roof paint for a durable, UV-stable, uniform colour across the whole roof.

The result: a sealed, refreshed roof built to last

The transformation speaks for itself. The tired, rusted red sheeting is now a clean, even grey roof with watertight seams and protected fasteners.
