Exterior Wall Waterproofing & Painting in Lynnwood, Pretoria

Location: Lynnwood, Pretoria
Service: Exterior Wall Maintenance, Damp Proofing & Painting

A double-storey home in Lynnwood had reached the point where general wear on the exterior walls was turning into real structural risk. Damp staining had taken hold on the rear walls, timber window sills were rotting where water had been getting in, and the render on several sections no longer matched or held together properly. The owners called in Eco Seal for professional exterior wall painting and damp proofing to bring the exterior back to a sound, weatherproof, freshly painted finish.

The problem

Years of Pretoria’s summer storms and winter temperature swings had worn down the exterior plaster and paintwork. Close inspection showed:

  • Rotten, crumbling timber at window sills and frames, with damp tracking into the substrate below the glazing
  • Damp staining and blistering on rear wall sections, a sign that moisture was penetrating the plaster rather than shedding off it
  • Cracked and mismatched render patches that had never been properly sealed or painted over
  • Old, tired paintwork that had lost its ability to protect the substrate underneath

Left unaddressed, this kind of moisture ingress works its way deeper into the wall structure over time, damaging plaster, timber, and eventually the interior finishes too.

The Eco Seal solution

As an approved SealPro applicator, Eco Seal worked through a structured remedial process across the full exterior:

  1. Clean and prepare every wall section by high-pressure wash and hand-scraping, removing loose paint, dirt, and failed coatings down to a sound surface.
  2. Repair and rebuild cracked and damaged sections using fibre cement, carefully matched to the existing wall texture so repairs blend in rather than stand out.
  3. Waterproof the damaged wall areas, removing old paving where needed to access and treat the base of the walls before compacting and re-packing the ground.
  4. Prime with SealPro’s Rain Shield system on all repaired and problem sections, giving the substrate a waterproof base layer before topcoating.
  5. Apply two full coats of high-quality exterior paint across the entire building, restoring an even, uniform finish over old patchwork and repairs alike.
  6. Damp-proof and repaint select interior wall sections where moisture had tracked through from the exterior, closing the loop on the problem at its source.

The result

The home now has a completely refreshed exterior: even, crack-free walls in a clean uniform tone, sealed and waterproofed window and wall junctions, and a boundary wall finished to match. The patchwork and staining that signalled ongoing moisture damage are gone, replaced with a coating system built to shed water and protect the structure for years to come — the same waterproofing and painting standard we bring to homes across Pretoria East.
