Exterior Wall Waterproofing & Painting in Irene, Centurion

Location: Irene, Centurion
Service: Exterior Wall Waterproofing & Painting

A family home in the Irene Security Estate had reached the stage where its exterior walls needed more than a fresh coat of paint. Years of sun and seasonal movement had opened up cracking across the render, the barge boards were tired, and the steel carport structure and main gate had lost their protective finish. The owner brought in Eco Seal for professional exterior wall painting and waterproofing to take the exterior back to a sound, weatherproof, freshly painted condition.

The problem

A close inspection of the walls told the real story. What looked like surface wear from a distance turned out to be extensive fine cracking running across large sections of the render, some of it deep enough to let moisture track into the substrate behind the plaster. Alongside the cracking, the team found:

  • Spiderwebbing and hairline cracks spread across most of the exterior wall area, over 370 m² in total
  • Barge boards that had weathered past the point of a simple repaint
  • The steel structure of the carport and main gate showing signs of a failing finish
  • Window putty and seals around several frames cracked and past their working life

Left as-is, cracked render lets water behind the coating every time it rains, which speeds up further cracking and eventually threatens the plaster and structure underneath.

The Eco Seal solution

As an approved SealPro applicator, Eco Seal worked through a structured remedial process across the full exterior:

  1. Clean and prepare every wall section by high-pressure washing and hand-scraping, removing loose paint and failed coating down to a sound surface.
  2. Fill and repair every crack and damaged section with fibre cement, matched to the existing wall texture so repairs sit flush rather than stand out.
  3. Renew the seal and putty around window and door frames where the old sealant had cracked and reached the end of its life.
  4. Prime with SealPro’s Rain Shield system across all repaired and problem sections, giving the substrate a waterproof base before topcoating.
  5. Apply two full coats of high-quality exterior paint over the entire building, bringing every patched and original section to one uniform finish.
  6. Prep and repaint the barge boards, replacing sections that had weathered beyond a simple recoat.
  7. Prep and repaint the steel structure of the carport and main gate, restoring rust protection and a clean finish to match the walls.

The result

The home now presents a crack-free, uniformly painted exterior from every angle, with fresh barge boards, a smartly repainted carport and gate, and resealed windows that no longer let moisture in around the frames. What was a patchwork of hairline cracks and tired paintwork is now a clean, protected finish built to handle Centurion’s summer storms and winter temperature swings — the same standard we bring to homes across Centurion.
